Our Guide to New Season Workwear
We aren’t exactly met with icy pavements and torrential rain like our counterparts in the cooler climates, but the Winter season still warrants a wardrobe refresh for us in the southern hemisphere.
Ben Sherman Australia’s latest collection for Autumn Winter 20 brings a fresh take on modern menswear, particularly in the realm of Tailoring and Formalwear.
Forget everything you thought you knew about dressing for the office or that special occasion earmarked in your diary as a ‘formal’ event.
Whether you are at work or play, we are here to talk you through the top trends in tailoring right now – and how to create a look that is comfortable, conversational and on trend.
Blazers and Suit Jackets
Gone are the days where blazers and suit jackets were limited to a black and navy colour pallet and thick material.
In our latest drop of tailoring for the season, Ben Sherman have focused their attention on soft-structured knitted varieties of blazers and jackets to create a look that is put together – without being overly formal.
Jackets in technical fabrics like wool are versatile, easier to wear and much more understated - particularly when paired with a classic polo or turtle-neck to tick off the ‘collar’ aspect of a smart look.
Alternatively, pairing a blazer with a playful knit or sweater is a simple way to lighten the mood of your tailoring.
Trousers and Formal Pants
While trousers that match your blazer might seem like the obvious choice when making your tailoring selects, sometimes mixing up your colour pallets and textures is a fun alternative.
This season, we’ve designed an array of, bright blues, charcoals and rust suiting options – in addition to the classic blacks, navy and greys. Technical fabrics like wool and silk variations continue in our trouser offerings that create a look that is elevated yet casual against a crisp white shirt or classic tee.
While the trouser might seem like a basic wardrobe staple – the right pair – and the right fit can bring an entire wardrobe from good to great.
An upgrade on any pair of classic pants are a checked woollen trouser. This season, Ben Sherman presents the Light Grey Broken Check Trouser – the perfect addition to revamp any work wardrobe with minimal effort.
Cropped slightly at the ankle, and with a comfortable, athletic-luxe drawstring waistband – pair with a minimal white low-top sneaker to make a bold fashion forward statement.
