WHAT TO WEAR TO A WEDDING

YOU'RE GETTING READY FOR A WEDDING, CATCH A GLIMPSE OF YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR AND THINK YOU'VE GOT YOUR OUTFIT NAILED. THEN, UPON ARRIVING AT THE VENUE YOU FIND YOU'RE DRESSED IDENTICALLY TO 99 PER CENT OF THE OTHER MALE GUESTS.

You deserve better than that. You can be more than just another, average wedding guest. Follow our guide to find out what you can wear to a wedding to help you stand out from the crowd with our perfect wedding guest outfits.

STEP ONE: THE WEDDING SUIT

While you want to be individual, not wearing a suit isn’t an option. That doesn’t mean however that just because you’re all wearing a suit, you have to look the same as everyone else.

Most men at a wedding will opt for navy, black or grey, so by simply changing the hue, you’ll stand out against the other suits. A textured Donegal fabric is an alternative just any suit, and a Grey Pow Mod Check suit is the perfect level of formality for a wedding while being far from dull.

STEP TWO: THE WAISTCOAT

Ah, waistcoat or no waistcoat, the age-old problem. Don’t feel pressured to wear one by any means, but it can really help add a layer of differentiation to your look, as many men choose not to wear them nowadays.

STEP THREE: THE SHIRT

Again, when you look around you at most wedding guest outfits, the majority of people will be sporting a plain colored shirt, almost definitely in white. This is another perfect opportunity for you to peacock and brings an element of your personal style to what can be a homogeneous and sometimes dull look. Statement printed shirts, perhaps with floral details or a small check or polka dot, can really take your whole look to another level.

Don’t be limited to just a ‘formal’ looking shirt. Mix your lookup by adding in a casual shirt style with a bold print. Or for a classic look, wear an iconic Oxford shirt for effortless sophistication.

STEP FOUR: THE TIE

As we move towards the end of your outfit planning, you can find yourself in a tricky spot. It’s very easy in the hunt for individuality to go overboard and throw a whole host of contrasting elements at your outfit only to look like you’ve tried too hard.

STEP FIVE: THE POCKET SQUARE

A final flourish. The pocket square is just about your final chance to experiment with your wedding guest attire, and with so many different colored pocket squares available now, you shouldn’t struggle to find something that works for you. Experiment with different colors to create the right palette across your entire suite, without forgetting to consider pattern, and your pocket square will be the icing on the cake.
