During the 1960s, holidays were a trip to the British coast for long summer days spent on the beach, eating soft serve ice cream and the bright lights of the British Riviera at night.

For High Summer 19, Ben Sherman packs his bags for a beachside break along the South-West.

Inspired by its light and airy courtyards, pastel hues and leafy palms, the stunning Rae’s on Wategos in Byron Bay was the perfect backdrop for our summer campaign.

The Byron-based hotel references summer in the 1960s throughout its décor and landscaping – mirroring the luxe yet relaxed aesthetic for the South West collection.

Working within a fresh and beachy pallet, raw and natural materials make up Rae’s interiors and furniture – not to mention their iconic blue-striped pool towels and parasols.

While South West was shot in Australia, the inspiration for the collection steps straight off the sands of Devon, Dorset and Cornwall in England.

Candy Stripe co-ords are stylish yet comfortable for a day spend on the beach, beside the pool or at the bar.

Soft pinks and pastels replicate the beach huts that line the British coastline, whilst bold floral prints and button-ups elevate the classic board short into a look that is casual yet put together.

Originally inspired by military wear, chinos are more formal than jeans but aren’t as formal as a dress pant. They are a must-have for every man’s wardrobe as they can be dressed-up or down to suit the occasion.

Since its inception, Ben Sherman has always had a close affiliation with the music and style of the 1960s. Irreverent musical landmarks were the birthplace of ground-breaking recordings that captured hearts and minds of the impressionable youth kicking off cultural and style-led revolutions, many albums and artists whose musical genius and style evolution still hold relevance to this day.
