Spring racing season is upon us and we prepare to throw our dollars on a filly or three and charge our glasses to races won (or lost for that matter) - we round up our top 3 ways to dress for a day trackside.

suit up

It wouldn’t be a day at the races without sharp tailoring and a crisp white shirt. It’s classic, dapper, understated yet oh-so sophisticated.

Pair it with a slim tie and pocket square and you’ve got an iconic British look. That said, in the height of spring and edging on the summer months, it’s fun to dabble in pops of colour, fun prints and something a little more than the standard-cut suit.

Mixing up the fit of your usual tailoring can elevate any race wear outfit into a look that is put-together, playful and conversational.

All of our new Ben Sherman suits are cut on the modern Camden Fit block. They are sharp and slim cut to create a mod silhouette, and each features slim lapels and a soft shoulder.

The suits are punctuated with Ben Sherman branded buttons and our trademark printed lining, ticket pocket, tab and back.

Mod finishes, paired with a classic button-down provides a subtle nod to the brand’s iconic heritage and is bound to make you stand out from the crowd.

As we approach a new decade, it’s time to dismiss almost everything you thought you knew about suits, tailoring and dressing for events. Just because you’re in a suit, doesn’t mean you can’t mix up what you wear underneath.

A classic crisp shirt is exactly that – a classic. However, good-quality tees and knitted polos can transform any outfit into a look that is edgy and effortless, yet comfortable and cool.

Street tailoring and sports luxe is a major trend in the world of men’s style. In the current fashion climate, it is more suited and sneakered than suited and booted.

Pair your blazers with one of Ben Sherman’s classic Romford Polos, Chest Embroidery Tees or Button Through Mod Polo Knits – a white sneaker and ankle grazer trouser to ensure your look is well on trend.

Not every race event requires you to suit up. Whether you’re in the birdcage or the outback – different events stipulate different dress codes.

A simple pair of slim or skinny stretch chinos and a strong shirting option gives off casual yet put-together vibes for your day at the track.

The iconic Oxford Shirt is a Ben Sherman classic, and, as the leader in that field, our collections always feature an abundance of options.

This season we’ve turned back the clock to the inception of the brand and revisited the time a young Ben Sherman went to Ivy League-America in search of the identity we have become known for.

Oxford Shirts are inspired by the collegiate style of Browns, Harvard and Princeton in bold candy stripes and pops of pastels.

As we approach the warmer months in the southern hemisphere, pairing your summer look with a light, breathable linen blazer ensures you are fashion forward yet ultra-comfortable for a day at the races.

Originally inspired by military wear, chinos are more formal than jeans but aren’t as formal as a dress pant. They are a must-have for every man’s wardrobe as they can be dressed-up or down to suit the occasion.

Since its inception, Ben Sherman has always had a close affiliation with the music and style of the 1960s. Irreverent musical landmarks were the birthplace of ground-breaking recordings that captured hearts and minds of the impressionable youth kicking off cultural and style-led revolutions, many albums and artists whose musical genius and style evolution still hold relevance to this day.
